Tourist Attractions

Dunyapur itself may not have many ancient monuments or contemporary wonders, but it is an ideal starting point for touring the surrounding areas. Here are a few things to think about:

Fort Qasim Bagh

This historical site, which traces its origins to the Mughal era, is roughly forty minutes’ drive from Dunyapur. The fort is a large complex that once had gates, courtyards, and a mosque. It provides an insight into the defensive strategies and architectural forms used at that time.

Derawar Fort

Approximately one and a half hours separate Dunyapur from this UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the biggest square forts in the world, Derawar Fort is renowned for its enormous size and well-preserved structure.

Culture and Traditions

Due to its lengthy history and deeply held customs, Dunyapur has a rich cultural heritage. The locals are renowned for their friendly demeanour and eagerness to receive guests.

Traditional clothing, with men and women dressed in kurta pyjamas and ladies, often dressed in flowing shalwar kameez, demonstrates a love of colour. The culinary delights are highlighted, including meals like kebabs, biryani, and nihari.

The vibrant Basant festival, the celebration of Eid, and spiritual festivities honouring Sufi saints are just a few of the festivals and events that bring the city to life.

Accommodation and Transportation

The tehsil offers a variety of lodging choices to suit different budgets, ranging from hotels to guesthouses. Taxis, rickshaws and local buses make up an easy-to-use transportation system for getting around the city and discovering its environs.

Demographics

The population of this Tehsil is comparatively young and has many families, according to its demographics. Below is a summary of several important indicators:

  • Family Structure: Dunyapur significantly emphasises the family, as evidenced by the 6.2 average household size in the area.
  • Age Distribution: Children under ten comprise a sizable % of the population (56.6%). This is followed by people over 60 (5.4%), people between the ages of 10 and 18 (18.9%), and people between the ages of 18 and 60 (49%).
  • Working Population: There are about 10,820 working people in Dunyapur, excluding children under ten.
  • Religion: 41,190 people in the area identify as Muslims, making Islam the most common religion. Of the 364 residents, a tiny proportion practice a different religions.

  • Education: 10,266 individuals, or a sizable portion, have completed elementary school. Additionally, there’s a healthy mix of people who have finished university education (about 2,030) and enrolment (around 5,835).

Based on these data, the Tehsil has a young, rising, and family-oriented population. The number of people joining the workforce and those with previous experience is fairly balanced. Although literacy is rising, there is still space for growth, especially for women.

Dunyapur Railway Station

Located in Dunyapur City, the Dunyapur railway station is an important regional transit centre. Due to its location on the Karachi-Peshawar line, Dunyapur is connected to Pakistan’s major cities.

Although passenger counts are scarce, the station handles a constant stream of passengers going on vacation or business. Given the population of Dunyapur and its function as the Tehsil headquarters, the station also handles some freight transit.

History

The written chronicles of the tehsil date back to the Mughal period. The Ain-i-Akbari, a 16th-century Mughal Empire administrative chronicle, refers to it. According to the text, Dunyapur is an administrative division, of Multan’s Sarkar, or province.

Situated in the Bet Jalandhar Doab, the tehsil made substantial money (1,876,862 dams) and supplied the Mughal army with a military contingent of 50 cavalry and 400 infantries.

There is less certainty regarding Dunyapur’s past after the Mughal era. On the other hand, we are aware that Dunyapur and Kahror Pakka were added to the Lodhran tehsil in 1924.

The annexation was a component of a broader colonial British plan to populate and develop the region with people from other locations.

Conclusion

Dunyapur is a treasure trove that has yet to be discovered. The city offers a unique experience because of its rich history, culture, and attractions. Discovering lesser-known cities like Dunyapur is crucial to appreciating Pakistan’s richness and splendour. To take advantage of its special offers and become fully immersed in its rich culture and customs, we strongly advise travelling to Dunyapur.  For more information, visit Graana.com.
