RAWALPINDI: In a meeting chaired by Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza, the district administration approved the Rawalpindi Tourism Express master plan, worth Rs4.4 billion.
The signal free road project features multi-storey commercial constructions sprawling on land up to 220 feet on the 123km route starting from Kallar Syedan to Azad Kashmir.
In addition, the high-altitude spots, including Panj Pir rocks, will be beautified and used as scenic points to view the Pakistan-India border in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) along with Mangla and Rawal dams and Islamabad. All such points will be opened for the general public after inaugurating them in a grand festival to be held in March 2022.
Along with improving Pakistan’s tourism and hospitality sector, the project aims to generate employment and increase business.
The foundation stone of the project will be laid soon, it was announced.
