ISLAMABAD: An impressive turnout of residents was observed at the ‘Cycling Sunday’ recreational event, co-hosted by Graana.com, held on Islamabad’s primary road, Jinnah Avenue, and culminating at D-chowk.
This joint initiative was organized in collaboration with Urban Innovation, Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA), Islamabad Cycling Association, ITP, Tobacco Smoke-free Islamabad, Urban Platform, MTB Islamabad, Prime Minister’s Tiger Force, and Critical Mass Islamabad.
The bicycle enthusiasts enjoyed the option of leisure cycling, as well as, the cycling contests organized by the hosts.
The event was attended by Islamabad DC, Mr. Hamza Shafqaat, Director General ICT, Ms. Syeda Shafaq Hashmi, Chairman Imarat Group of Companies, Mr. Shafiq Akbar, and other notable personalities to promote such eco-friendly recreational activities and advocate for dedicated cycling tracks on the roads in Islamabad.
The authorities hosted a successful event, aimed at transforming the Federal Capital into a bicycle-friendly city with better cycling infrastructure, including dedicated cycling lanes and parking spaces, to promote eco-friendly activities, with all essential COVID-19 SOPs in check.
