ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to incorporate increased use of technology to enhance the security system in place to monitor the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), identifying Gwadar Port as a pilot project for the purpose.
While the Chinese government extended its appreciation for the current provisions in place to ensure sound security, both sides agreed that mitigating the threats of terrorist attacks require further strengthening of the existing systems.
In the recently concluded 9th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of CPEC, the Chinese side lauded the level of dedicated security being provided by the Government of Pakistan to the projects of the mega economic initiative and agreed that the formation of Special Security Division (SSD) North and South has further enhanced CPEC’s security.
On their end, Pakistan said that the government will go above and beyond to take all necessary measures to ensure the security of Chinese personnel and CPEC projects.
