Chairman CDA Visited ICCI to Discuss the Development of the City

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noor Ul Amin Mengal, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to ease business operations and provide facilities to the business community.

According to a press release, ICCI present would also be invited to become a member of the CDA Board to express the sentiments of the business community. 

There were several high officials present at the meeting including CDA Member Finance Syed Mazhar Hussain Shah, Member Engineering Syed Munawar Shah, Member Planning & Design Waseem Hayat Bajwa, Member State Muhammad Afnan Alam Khan, Member Environment Captain (r) Anwar ul Haque, Member Inspection Riaz Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon and others. 

Mengal stated that private sector facilitation is among his top priorities, and the CDA is taking various business-friendly initiatives to make the business community’s experience smoother.

Mengal instructed the relevant authorities to identify a suitable location for establishing an expo centre in Islamabad. 

Additionally, the CDA has started upgrading various grounds under its jurisdiction as part of its efforts to facilitate the private sector. Six new parking plazas are under construction, while advertisements for the construction of four more parking plazas will be issued in the coming days.

Moreover, the CDA is adding six weekly bazaars in Islamabad, and all the city centres are being upgraded. The upgrading work includes sewerage lines, carpeting of roads, installation of streetlights, and the installation of new tiles. 

Furthermore, the CDA has initiated the second shift of the Sanitation Wing to ensure that all city centres remain clean. To facilitate the business community further, the CDA has appointed a liaison officer. 

Similarly, commercialization fees have been waived off for new categories. A dedicated Building Control Section has been established to address building-related issues, and Building Control Teams have been constituted for the purpose.

Mengal also informed the Chamber that all mega-projects would be completed by July this year, marking a significant milestone for the capital’s development.
