Islamabad – CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the construction and widening project of the Margalla Road (Bari Imam portion) early Monday morning to review the ongoing work. The relevant officers also accompanied him during the visit.
During the briefing, the Chairman was briefed that the relocation of IESCO’s power lines at the site is underway. He was further informed that the ongoing heavy spells of monsoon rains had affected the pace of the work.
Despite this, about 70% of the project’s base work on the southern carriageway has been completed, while 1 kilometre of base work on the northern carriageway has also been finished. CDA Chairman mentioned that the construction of this portion of Margalla Avenue would significantly improve traffic flow in the city.
It is worth noting that Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had earlier instructed that work on this long-delayed project, pending for 17 years, should be resumed. The current work on the construction and widening of Margalla Road, which had been stalled since 2008, has been restarted and will be completed as soon as possible, according to the instructions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Later on, the chairman also visited the Jinnah Convention Centre. On this occasion, he was briefed about the ongoing renovation and refurbishment work at the Jinnah Convention Centre. CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that the pace of the renovation work at the Convention Centre should be accelerated and that international standards should be maintained during the refurbishment of the Jinnah Convention Centre.
