ISLAMABAD: The cement sales recorded a jump of 44.39 per cent, with 5.773 million tonnes dispatched and 810,962 tonnes exports, marking a surge of 60 per cent in March 2021.
In March last year, the local cement dispatches stood at 3.214 million tonnes, with 507,480 tonnes exports.
Cement mills in the North region recorded an increase of 38.52 per cent, with 3.809 million tonnes dispatched, as compared to 2.749 million tonnes in March 2020. In addition, 280,330 tonnes exports were recorded in March 2021, as compared to 106,759 tonnes in March 2020, marking an increase of 162.58 per cent.
Similarly, 753,704 tonnes were dispatched to local markets, as compared to 464,440 tonnes in March 2020, marking an increase of 62.28 per cent. On the other hand, the exports recorded an increase of 32.42 per cent, with 530,632 tonnes in March 2021 from 400,721 tonnes in march 2020.
The total cement dispatches increased 17 per cent, with 43.325 million tonnes in the first nine months of the current fiscal year (9MFY21), as compared to 37.035m tonnes in the last fiscal year.
