Cement exports rise by 11.5% in September

KARACHI: As the total dispatched increased by 11.5% to 4.270 million tonnes in the month of September, the country’s total cement exported during 1 Quarter fiscal year ’20 (QYF) rise by 2.56% 11.133 million tonnes.

Out of total sales, local despatches inched up from 9.063 million tonnes to 9.116m tonnes, whereas the exports swelled up by 12.54%, from 1.792 million to 2.017 million tonnes in 1QFY19.

The domestic consumption in September rose from 3.114 million tonnes to 3.472 million tonnes. Exports reached 0.798 million tonnes last month as compared to 0.715 million tonnes in September 2018, up by 11.66%.

Local consumption in the northern areas during the current month increased by 22.4 %, from 2.473 million tonnes to 3.027 million tonnes, as compared to September 2018. On the other hand, the despatched in the southern region witnessed a drop from 0.641 million tonnes to 0.446 million tonnes (30.48%), as compared to September 2018.
