ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved three developmental projects worth 5.5 billion during a meeting with the senior officials from the Planning Commission, Federal Ministries, and Divisions.
The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission.
Karachi water supply scheme (K-IV) 260 MGD (Phase- 1) which is worth Rs 25.5 billion was approved and will address the water demand of 18.5 million inhabitants of the city. The project has been referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
A project worth Rs 1.7 billion was also approved for the provision of clean drinking water in Lahore.
The Young Development Fellows (2nd revision) worth Rs 133 million was approved and extended by the CDWP. The project is focused on the capacity building of young women and men by grooming them in the areas of development, strategic planning, project management, public policy, and more.
Another project worth Rs 3.7 billion that will focus on providing better infrastructure to the public institutions and a conducive education environment was approved.
Besides this, a concept clearance paper on the revamping of water supply and sewerage facilities to the value of Rs 4 billion was cleared by a clearance committee. This project will be sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and will be executed by the Water and Sanitation Agency and Multan Development Authority.
