ISLAMABAD: In a meeting chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved a development project worth Rs634 million.
The approved project, titled – ‘Social Health Protection Phase-II’ is aimed at social health protection for the residents of Gilgit-Baltistan.
In addition, the project titled ‘Rainee Canal Project (Phase-I)’, worth Rs20.53 billion was referred by the authority to the ECNEC for further consideration.
Under this project, a 174-km-long canal will be constructed to irrigate an area of 412,400 acres, including districts of Kashmore, Ghotki, Sukkur and Khairpur.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Planning Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh, senior officials of the Planning Commission, Federal Ministries and Divisions.
