ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recently announced a crucial decision to outsource the waste management system for both rural and urban areas of Islamabad.
This decision is expected to bring uniformity to the system and significantly improve the quality of sanitation services provided to residents.
Under the contracting system, separate plans will be created for rural and urban areas.
A tender has already been issued to seek the services of a consultant who will act as a third party and provide valuable insights into the outsourcing process.
Moreover, in urban areas, the CDA will use cleaning machinery while the staff will be provided by the contractors.
While in rural areas, the complete sanitation system and machinery will be utilized by the contractors.
Furthermore, the contractors will be responsible for collecting the garbage from the city and transporting it to the dumping site.
The outsourcing work is still in its initial stages, and Director Sanitation Malik Attaullah has stated that the CDA’s cleaning staff will be used in the outsourcing process, which will create job opportunities for the local population.
