ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is gearing up to launch two eco-friendly electric buses that will serve as feeder buses to transport passengers to the Blue and Green Line metro stations.
The Green Line metro service will operate from Bhara Kahu to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Since the existing two-lane road on Murree Road is already facing extreme traffic congestion, CDA has decided to start the service from Jillani Stop in Bhara Kahu.
For the Green Line service, the feeder bus will pick up passengers from Bhara Kahu, while the feeder bus for the Blue Line service will transport passengers from PWD.
Construction work for both metro services has been gaining momentum, as the project is set to be completed by August this year.
The two bus services will be launched in mixed traffic on pre-existing roads, as a designated corridor for these buses is yet to be constructed. However, the federal government has earmarked Rs1.5 billion for the construction of these designated corridors from the budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.
