The announcement came during a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The session was attended by CDA board members—including Member Finance, Member Estate, Member Administration, Member Engineering, Member Planning and Design, and Member Environment—as well as senior officials from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA). The meeting reviewed CDA’s financial health, revenue generation, and progress on ongoing projects.

Randhawa emphasized the importance of strengthening the CDA’s financial autonomy and instructed all departments to expedite the completion of development, beautification, tourism, and public service projects.

To bolster financial recovery, he directed the establishment of a Special Recovery Unit under Member Finance’s supervision, supported by all directorates. Departments were also instructed to implement stricter financial monitoring mechanisms.

Additionally, the CDA and DMA have been tasked with conducting a comprehensive survey of all leased properties, updating data, and initiating legal action against defaulters, including issuing notices for illegal usage and cancelling expired leases where dues remain unpaid.

Randhawa also directed the Resource Wing to devise new revenue-generation strategies and actionable proposals for inclusion in the next fiscal year’s budget. These initiatives aim to secure the financial sustainability of CDA and ensure the continued momentum of development across Islamabad.

This intensified focus on revenue collection and financial discipline comes amid growing expectations for improved civic infrastructure and urban development in the capital.
