ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recently announced that it has offered 25 acres of land in the D-12 sector to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the construction of a cricket stadium in Islamabad.
According to the CDA Chairman, Noor ul Amin Mengal, he had spoken to the high-ups at PCB a few days ago and informed them that the CDA has earmarked 25 acres of land for the project.
He further added that next week, the CDA and PCB are scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss the project in more detail.
Mr Mengal stated that out of the total 25 acres, the PCB will be given the land for the construction of the cricket stadium, while the remaining land will be utilized for developing other sports facilities.
He also mentioned that the cricket stadium would be built in the foothills of Margallas, which would add to the beauty of Islamabad.
Furthermore, the facility would be used for international cricket matches.
When asked about possible backlash from environmental activists due to the area falling in Zone III, the CDA chairman responded that he had been informed that the area was outside of Zone III.
