ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) gave the green light to the expansion of Islamabad Expressway to accommodate more vehicles on the busy artery from Koral to T-Chowk. It was decided that Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) will provide design and construction services for this project.
The plan also proposed the development of the Blue Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) between Koral and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The board also discussed plans for the Green Line BRT project from Bhara Kahu to PIMS.
CDA reviewed progress of the following projects as well: the Shah Allah Ditta bypass, Nelore Heights, and Orange Line Metro Station. Plans to allocate more resources to the development of housing projects in the capital were also reviewed.
Development work is underway to repair Islamabad’s ageing infrastructure. Effective transport solutions will be provided by enhancing the capacity of roads, which, in turn, will reduce travel times and risk of accidents.
