ISLAMABAD: To initiate the Conduction of Water from Indus River Project at Tarbela Dam, technical bids to hire a consultant have been invited by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Bids have been invited both nationally and internationally by the authority to hire a consultant.
After the committee led by Member Engineering assesses the submitted bids, financial proposals of technically qualified firms will be opened.
The Conduction of Water Project from Indus River System will be executed on PPP mode.
The Project of Conduction of Water from Indus River System at Tarbela Dam will address the existing acute potable water crisis faced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi by providing a perennial source of drinking water for the residents.
The federal capital receives around 80 million gallons of water per day through reservoirs built at Simly and Khanpur dams, 192 tube wells and very few waterworks. This drops during the drought period, which results in the twin cities facing a water shortage.
Prior to this, the CDWP approved the PC-I for land acquisition for the project. The cost of it will be equally divided between by the Federal Government and Punjab Government.
