CDA Fast-Tracks Smart Renovation of Jinnah Convention Centre as SCO Summit Nears

Islamabad, Pakistan — In preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, conducted an on-site review of the ongoing renovation and upgradation work at the Jinnah Convention Centre. The iconic venue is undergoing a comprehensive transformation to meet international standards, with a focus on enhancing its infrastructure and smart capabilities.

The refurbishment work, which is being supervised by leading architects and contractors, is progressing around the clock to ensure timely completion. Chairman Randhawa was given a detailed briefing on the various upgrades being implemented to make the convention center a state-of-the-art facility.

The renovations include the installation of modern technologies such as SMD screens, digital boards, advanced conferencing systems, and high-speed internet facilities. Additionally, the lighting systems are being revamped to create a sophisticated ambiance for both national and international events.

The project encompasses extensive work on the main hall, committee rooms, and corridors, where flooring, glasswork, and repairs are being carried out. Premium-quality furniture and carpets are being installed to uplift the overall aesthetic of the venue. Special attention is being given to landscaping and horticulture around the convention center, with new tree plantations and attractive designs planned to enhance the visual appeal of the surroundings.

During the visit, Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of positioning the Jinnah Convention Centre as a premier venue capable of hosting high-profile international gatherings. “Our aim is to elevate this facility to meet the highest international standards, ensuring it is fully equipped to welcome dignitaries and delegates for the upcoming SCO Summit and beyond,” he stated.

In addition to reviewing the convention center’s progress, Chairman Randhawa also inspected the ongoing construction work on Park Road. He urged teams to expedite the pace of work, despite challenges posed by recent rains, to ensure timely completion with uncompromised quality.

The extensive renovation of the Jinnah Convention Centre is a significant milestone for Islamabad, reflecting the city’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure for international events.
