In a bid to reclaim public spaces and enhance Islamabad’s scenic allure, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued final warnings to businesses encroaching on these areas. This decisive move, led by Chief Commissioner and CDA Chairman Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa, aims to uphold the city’s aesthetic integrity.
Notices have been dispatched to markets and commercial centers, with a special focus on restaurants that have illegally extended onto public walkways. Dr. Sania Hameed Pasha, Director of DMA, has called on business owners to cooperate in this citywide beautification effort.
The CDA has already made significant strides by demolishing unlawful structures and confiscating goods that breach open space regulations. This operation will be a continuous effort, ensuring that public walkways remain free and accessible.
A CDA spokesperson underscored the urgency of this mission, citing strong public support for the removal of encroachments: “We are determined to resolve this issue swiftly and effectively.”
Chief Commissioner Randhawa reiterated his commitment to preserving Islamabad’s beauty, instructing the DMA to maintain the campaign until all commercial zones, including the Blue Area, are completely cleared of encroachments.
