ISLAMABAD: CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa has directed the immediate restoration of 23 non-functional water fountains across Islamabad, to be enhanced with artistic lighting. In a meeting focused on the city’s beautification, initiatives were outlined including large-scale tree plantation, enhancement of major roads, and upgrades to recreational spaces.
Five key roads—Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue—have been selected for immediate improvement. Planned upgrades include lane markings, footpath repairs, development of green belts, beautification of medians, and installation of modern lighting, decorative planters, natural boulders, and seasonal flowers.
All major roundabouts will be redesigned, while mega parks will be equipped with new walking tracks, swings, and enhanced landscaping. Urban forest initiatives will be prioritized to combat pollution and expand green cover, with optimized sprinkler systems ensuring plant survival.
To encourage community participation, CDA will soon launch a mobile app offering affordable plants and seeds from its nurseries. Chairman Randhawa emphasized that these efforts aim to merge beauty with sustainable urban planning, transforming Islamabad into a globally admired, eco-conscious city.
