ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet approved the formation of the first-ever Capital Mass Transit Authority (CMTA), comprising of 13 board members and headed by the chairman of the CDA, to run the Metro Bus Service, extending from Peshawar Mor to the Islamabad International Airport (IIA).
The members of the board also include the inspector general of police Islamabad, the chairman of Islamabad Transport Authority, officers of the climate change, finance and interior ministries. CDA member planning, a member from the Planning Commission and two members from private sectors, whereas, chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA) will serve as the vice-chairman.
The procurement of buses will be carried out civic agency until the authority is formed.
In addition, the PC-1 worth Rs. 1.9 billion, prepared by the CDA has been approved by the DDWP of the Ministry of Interior, for operation, management and maintenance of the Metro Bus Service.
