LAHORE: As directed by Raja Basharat, Provincial Minister of Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government, Punjab, revenue officials have been directed to identify and report Benami properties in their jurisdiction, in a law and order meeting in the civil secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Yousaf Naeem Khokhar, Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz and other officers, the chair through a video conference was briefed by the divisional commissioners and regional police officers.
Raja Basharat directed the law administrators to keep an eye on the matters of aerial firing, the exhibition of arms and use of prohibited weapons, the efforts made to control commodity prices were briefed by the CS, while the IGP deliberated on the current law and order situation in Punjab.
The Law Minister stressed on controlling commodity prices, removal of encroachments that narrowed down roads and streets and to check scan leases on state land.
Raja Basharat also advised the authorities to fill posts purely on merit and according to the procedure approved as the government believed in transparency and would not exercise political pressure to the effect.
