Hyderabad: Conversion of industrial and residential plots into commercial ones by Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) without prior permission of Sindh Board of Revenue has been banned.
This recommendation has been made by the commission on water supply and sanitation formed by the Supreme Court (SC). Led by commissioner, the committee also recommended ban on the construction of high rises in old areas of Hyderabad. The former has raised pressure on the already damaged roads, water supply, drainage, electricity infrastructure and gas. Reconstitution of Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) governing body has been advised.
A ban on housing schemes until the approval of Master Plan has also been suggested. Review of roads notified for commercial use should be done by the SC judge led committee. Officers of respective authorities will be held accountable for negligence to tasks and law disregard, recommended the committee.
