What Is Qurbani?

Eid-ul-Adha is a significant Islamic festival celebrated by millions of Muslims all over the world. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.

However, before the sacrifice or ‘Qurbani’ could be made, Allah replaced Prophet Ibrahim’s son with a lamb, showcasing the importance of devotion and submission to God.

The Spirit of Qurbani

Qurbani is not just about slaughtering animals; it is about demonstrating selflessness, empathy, and the desire to help others. Muslims perform Qurbani to follow the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and to share their blessings with those less fortunate.

We divide the meat from the sacrificed animals into three parts: one-third goes to the family, one-third is given to relatives and friends, and one-third is allocated to the needy.

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre

Established by the legendary cricketer Imran Khan in memory of his mother, Shaukat Khanum, the hospital provides state-of-the-art medical facilities, free cancer treatment, and care to thousands of underprivileged patients.

The Qurbani Program at Shaukat Khanum

The Qurbani program at Shaukat Khanum is an integral part of its mission to alleviate the suffering of cancer patients and their families.

Each year, generous individuals contribute towards purchasing animals, which we then sacrifice during Eid-ul-Adha. We distribute the meat among deserving patients and their families.
