The largest mental asylum or psychiatric hospital in Pakistan, often considered one of the largest in Asia, is Sir Cowasji Jehangir Readymoney (1812–1878). He was a distinguished civil engineer and renowned builder in Bombay. The institution, known as the Jehangir Institute of Psychiatry, is in Latifabad Unit 3, affectionately referred to by locals as “Giddu Bandar.”
