ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has signed an agreement with the Nigerian government to develop Minna-Bida Road project worth $45 million (AED165 million).
The agreement was signed remotely by Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning of Nigeria and Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
According to details, the 82km road will feature two 7.3m-wide lanes. The road network will connect the capital of the state of Niger with the city of Bida. The said project is expected to reduce travel time by half and the cost of travel by 31 per cent.
Ms Zainab expressed gratitude for the crucial role that UAE was playing in bolstering economic activity in the country. She further claimed that the project will be a harbinger of growth and employment opportunities.
Holistically, the initiative will connect the southern and northern parts of the country through a road network that is in tandem with the National Transport Policy.
