ISLAMABAD: The coalition government has put forward the inclusion of 160 new schemes valued at Rs2.2 trillion in the federal development budget for the fiscal year 2022-23.
The proposal comes after a meeting of the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC). A draft of the Public Sector Development Plan (PSDP) 2022-23 was approved in the meeting.
The new schemes under the PDSP include infrastructure development projects throughout the country. Most notably, the government has approved a Rs57 billion package for Dera Ismail Khan. Several development projects in the Larkana District have also been added to the budget.
Another Rs5 billion have been set aside for the Youth Laptop Scheme for university and college students.
The government also allocated Rs10 billion for the Rawat-Faizabad Metro Bus, with another Rs1 billion for the BharaKau-Faizabad Metro Bus.
The maintenance of Gwadar Port, a critically important project, was also included in the development budget with an allocation of Rs1 billion. The project is essential to ensure docking of larger ships at Gwadar Port.
