10,000-bedded isolation facility at Expo Centre to be operational soon

KARACHI: Accelerating efforts to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Sindh government has announced to operationalise the 10,000-bedded isolation facility established at the Expo Centre on Friday.

The Medical Corps of the Pakistan Army was tasked by the provincial government to establish the 10,000 bedded facility dedicated to treating the COVID-19 cases, while the expenses were paid by the Sindh government, informed Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah earlier.

Around 50 ventilators have been placed in the isolation facility.

The provincial government had directed the relevant authorities to sign up a staff of 900 including doctors, paramedics, and nursing staff, designated to operate the facility.

Accommodation to the appointed medical staff will be given at the Expo Centre, who will perform their designated duties in three shifts.

To ensure their safety, the present staff will be examined on a daily basis, whereas, their accommodations are scheduled to be disinfected regularly. Furthermore, they will also be quarantined at the facility for 15 days as a precaution.
