10 reasons you should let natural light into your homes

If you want to know what my indoor looks like right now, here is something you may drool over. The sky is catching hues of reds and oranges while shadows of my dream catcher fall back on the table that smells of wood, freshly scraped. It’s pleasantly warm, just the right temperature. While I enjoy the sun falling through into my indoors, I’ve decided to share with you the know-hows of natural lighting into our homes. It’s the best and ‘easiest’ simply tags along.

We’ve all had a lounging under the sun and it is a great feeling. But do you know, natural light is of incredible benefits and having spent most of our times within homes and buildings, letting sun rays enter our houses can let all good things happen. So while I write this plugging in Bob Marley’s “Sun is shining”, here are eight reasons to why you should let more of the sunny side into your house.

Sun Shines for Free

You know best of the bills you pay every time you flick a switch but a sun throwing light into a house is free. The more the light entering into a house, the lesser the use of electricity. Why not choose to alter your houses in a way that permit an abundance of light in. You can save money, save energy and minimize the environmental impacts.

More Sun, More Rent

The statement is worth a ‘Wow!” More the windows, greater the value of a house. It is for a fact that natural light en wrapping a rental space makes it look more spacious, bigger and lit. This results in the willingness of people to pay more. Across that glass, a gorgeous view comes as a bonus!

Be On Toes

Losing focus is un-debatable. Whether you’re at a workplace or your home, time says, “Be on your toes!” If anything can help to fight a foggy feeling, it’s letting aside the curtains and soaking in some light. When looking for a new home, look for windows and ways light can let itself in.

Ditch mood swings

Natural light kindles the human body to produce vitamin D, adjusts our daily rhythms and helps prevent depression. It means less mood swings! It also provides a source of better illumination than most artificial light, which can help prevent trips and falls in the home. The importance of natural light comes as so much of importance that the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention include it on their list of Basic Principles of Healthy Housing.

Sunnier Indoors are the New Outdoors

Considering the acridness of winters in the country, heating from a natural light is something you will agree with. After all who hasn’t sat down to peel oranges under the sun? Natural light falling into your homes is a source of natural heating. Make your homes the best escapade from winters while the sun falls in to warm you up. Stay at the comfort of your home and get the seasons going.

Happy Place for Plants

Natural Light is better for indoor plants, sure thing! You don’t have to be a genius to understand why you need more of these. Growing plants indoor are of numerous benefits. Not only have they detoxified the air you breathe in but also boost your moods. More of the natural illumination means greater chances for growing indoor plants and healthier the environment. Decided! I’m writing next on grow lights for indoor plantation. That should be worth a read!

Aesthetic Side Up

Currently if architects are designing houses in a manner that can get maximum light inside homes or interior designers are assembling decors to not come in the way of it, natural light significantly increases the aesthetics of a space. Architects make use of natural light to make spaces seem grander, illuminate an interior structure and increase the splendour of a space. Why invest in such a cost when you can be your own houses’ architect? What you needed was a tiny tip here and you’ve pretty much got that anyways. Natural light will have the same effects on your home as to what a designer may cost. Hurrah!

Reduced health risks

Having fluorescent lights illuminating from every room is a routine sight for us. While fluorescent lamps as your main light source day in and day out are considered safe to exposure, for some people these may appear to elicit eye strain, stress response and increase the risk of migraines. As an alternate to fluorescent lights, a source of natural light into your homes can be a friendlier. The more time you spend in a source of natural light, the less time you’ll likely spend in the unnatural light of fluorescent bulbs.

Happy Hormone

Even Hippocrates believed that changing availability of daylight had something to do with health. A few minutes of light entering into your homes can help elevate mood and re-energize you to face the day. After all sunlight triggers ‘serotonin’ the happy hormone. Light and serotonin makes us happy, feel better and sleep easier. In today’s time that’s definitely more of what we need, don’t we?

Good Night. Sleep Tight

Day light that we’re exposed to plays a tremendous role in our daily energies and sleep cycles. The way natural light helps us sleep, it also satisfies over-night sleeps which is greatly helped by our exposure to natural light. If I can wake up all crazy and happy to the sunlight falling over my eyelids, so can you.

While you’re closing in to the end of this blog, I am looking at the sun going down out my window and those streaks out there, angling right at my face are soaking in through my eyes, dripping drop by drop into the tired soul, putting the perfect day out to a perfect ending.

Sometimes, trying to add up lighting sources to a house could be a havoc. Ditch some drapes making ‘indoor’ the new out. A good amount of sunlight can lit up your houses so let it make your house look spacious that breaks free of four walls. So when you’re off to bed today, don’t forget to let open the curtains for the sun to cuddle once out. It may not solve all your problems but improving your situation just enough to make a difference is a promise.

Happy living!
